What's inside.

A power station is a battery, a system that monitors it, an inverter that produces the 230 V, and protection devices. On each of the seven points below, we made a choice.

1. The battery: lithium iron phosphate

All NV stations use LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) cells, automotive-grade on the NV-W36 and NV-W50. It is the most stable lithium chemistry: no thermal runaway, no oxygen release in the event of a fault, and a temperature tolerance that allows discharge from −20 °C to 40 °C (65 °C for the NV-P36).

It is also the most durable: 3,000 cycles and more at 80% capacity, 4,000 cycles at 70%. At one charge per working day, that is more than ten years before losing a fifth of the energy.

The NV-P36 takes simplicity further: 48 prismatic cells in a 16S3P arrangement, where a pack of 18650 cells would need around three hundred. Fewer welds, fewer points of failure.

2. The BMS: the system that keeps watch

The BMS (battery management system) balances the cells at every charge, measures temperature, and cuts out in the event of overcharge, short circuit, overvoltage or undervoltage. It prevents charging below 0 °C, the only condition that permanently damages a lithium cell. On the NV-W36 and NV-W50, it also manages the extension batteries connected in parallel.

3. The inverter: pure sine wave

The 230 V produced by the station is a pure sine wave, identical to the grid's, not a modified square wave. That is what makes it safe to power IT equipment, measuring instruments, chargers, variable-speed motors and switch-mode power supplies. The NV-P36 guarantees total harmonic distortion below 3%.

The peak power (4,500 to 7,200 W depending on the model) absorbs the inrush current when a compressor, a saw or a pump starts. The continuous power holds until the battery is empty, not just for a few minutes.

The 50 Hz output can be switched to 60 Hz from the front panel of the NV-W36 and NV-W50: the same machine works on European grids and on 60 Hz grids.

4. Protection: inside the machine, not around it

On the NV-W36 and NV-W50, a 30 mA RCD and a thermal-magnetic circuit breaker on each socket are built in. Personal protection is inside the station, provided the earth terminal is connected to a compliant earth rod, as with any generator set. On all models, digital protection cuts the output in the event of overload, short circuit or abnormal temperature, and the inverter attempts two restarts before remaining in alarm.

5. UPS switchover: under 20 ms

Connected between the grid and the equipment, the station passes the grid supply through and keeps its battery full. When the power cuts, it switches to battery in under 20 milliseconds, faster than the hold-up time of a computer power supply. When the grid returns, charging resumes automatically. (NV-C24, NV-W36, NV-W50.)

6. Solar: built-in MPPT

The MPPT charge controller is inside the station: the panels connect directly to the solar input, with no external box. It continuously tracks the maximum power point of the array, whatever the light. On the NV-C24 and NV-P36, up to 720 W of NV panels; on the NV-W36 and NV-W50, up to 1,440 W of NV panels.

7. The chassis

NV-C24: polymer housing, two handles, IP21 (indoor or sheltered use). NV-P36: reinforced polymer case, IP50, telescopic handle and wheels. NV-W36 and NV-W50: steel shell, tubular frame, all-terrain wheels, IP54 chassis and IP67 sockets. The station stays outdoors.
