Frequently asked questions
Choosing
How much power do I need?
That of the largest appliance you connect, including start-up. A motor (compressor, pump, saw) draws two to three times its rated power for a fraction of a second when it starts: the station's peak power absorbs it. Next, you choose the energy (the number of hours), and if it falls short, you add an extension battery or a second station.
What is the difference between the NV-P36 and the NV-W36?
The same energy, the same LiFePO4 chemistry and the same pure sine wave. The NV-P36 is a 34 kg case with two 230 V sockets, designed to be carried closed and set down at the work point. The NV-W36 is a 55 kg wheeled station with a steel shell, a 32 A industrial socket and a built-in RCD, designed to stay on site.
Can I connect a welder?
Yes on the NV-W36, NV-W50 and NV-P36, within the limit of the continuous power: a 160 A MMA welder draws about 3,500 W at the arc. A 200 A welder exceeds the continuous power at full current; it works with 2.5 to 3.2 mm electrodes.
What about a hydraulic pump or a compressor?
A single-phase 230 V pump or compressor up to 2 kW starts on the NV-W36, NV-W50 and NV-P36. Three-phase is not possible.
Using
Is the capacity actually available the same as the stated capacity?
No, and that is normal: the stated capacity is that of the battery pack. Inverter losses mean that the energy delivered at the sockets is slightly lower. Our runtimes are calculated on 85% of the rated capacity.
Can it be charged and used at the same time?
Yes, on all models.
Can it be recharged from a generator set?
Yes, from a generator set delivering a sine wave.
Does the station need to be earthed?
On the NV-W36 and NV-W50, the 30 mA RCD only protects people if the earth terminal is connected to a compliant earth rod, as with a generator set. The earth rod is not supplied.
Can it stay outdoors?
NV-W36 and NV-W50: yes, IP54 chassis, IP67 sockets. NV-P36: sheltered from rain (IP50, dust only). NV-C24: indoors or sheltered (IP21).
At what temperature?
NV-C24, NV-W36 and NV-W50: discharge from −20 °C to 40 °C, charging from 0 °C to 40 °C. NV-P36: discharge from −20 °C to 65 °C, charging from 0 °C to 45 °C. NV-B2 and NV-B5 batteries: 0 °C to 40 °C. The BMS prevents charging below 0 °C to protect the cells.
Can you weld with an NV station?
Yes, MMA or TIG: up to 200 A on the NV-W50 (5,000 W continuous), up to 160 A on the NV-W36 and NV-P36 (3,600 W continuous). Allow about 10 kWh per welder per 8-hour day, as the arc only runs 20 to 30% of the time. Sets of 300 A and above and wire processes need a three-phase supply.
Maintaining
How should it be stored?
In a dry place, at room temperature, charged to about 60% and switched off. For long-term storage, one full cycle every three months. The warranty no longer applies if the station has been neither charged nor discharged for six months.
How long does the battery last?
3,000 cycles and more at 80% capacity, 4,000 at 70%. At one charge per working day, more than ten years.
How should it be cleaned?
With a dry, soft, clean cloth.
Buying, delivery, warranty
What are the lead times?
Please contact us: they depend on the model and the quantity.
What warranty is provided?
Two years parts and labour on manufacturing defects; a third year is available as an option when ordering.
Can it be taken on a plane?
No: aviation regulations prohibit lithium batteries of this capacity on board passenger flights. Shipping as freight remains possible.
Do you sell to private individuals?
The range is designed and sold for professionals, on quotation.
Where are the prices?
On quotation: each configuration (model, batteries, panels, quantity) is priced within one working day.
One site, one runtime, a number of machines: we price the configuration for you.
Tell us the equipment to power, the runtime needed per station and the number of units. A priced configuration comes back to you within one working day.
